Hokkaido has long been well-known for its delicious home-grown produce and passionate chefs, and Niseko is no exception.

The area’s transformation into an eclectic mix of exquisite traditional Japanese delicacies and an abundance of foreign cuisines has not gone unnoticed, with many food-tourists and critics visiting the region solely for the food.

With many of the more popular restaurants being completely inaccessible as walk-in guests, it has become increasingly important to make timely reservations. Sample Niseko's Michelin-approved cuisine, or enjoy the best-kept secrets of the area by reserving your most sought-after seats as far in advance of your trip as possible.

Private Tours

Japan’s most famous ski resort internationally, Niseko is renowned for its vast yearly snowfall of impossibly light powder, immaculate ski slopes, and exceptional back-country.

There are many tour operators in the area that provide a myriad of exciting and adrenaline filled on-snow activities and tours; ranging from snowmobiling and snowbiking to cat skiing, heli skiing and private back-country tours.

Although many of these activities are dependent on weather conditions, (which can sometime result in rescheduling,) demand can skyrocket during popular travel periods, leaving latecomers stuck on winter waiting-lists.

If you are interested in experiencing any of Niseko’s huge range of winter activities, simply ask your AYA Reservations consultant to assist with making arrangements prior to your arrival.

Snowresort 1 Of 1 2

Snow blanketed the slopes last weekend as work continued on the newly extended Family run.

Last weekend marked the start of something special as the town received 20cm of snow on Saturday night. Snowfall continued throughout the week, with over 10cm of snow falling in the last 24hrs at the Hirafu village level.

After all of the incredible colours of the fall season, the last 7 days has marked a sudden transformation from autumn to winter, but it looks like the wait will have been worthwhile.

Even the year-round NAC Aerial Adventure Park is covered in snow!

According to Mountainwatch snow forecast, Niseko will be receiving over 110cm of fluffy white snow during the next week — meaning there will be almost 2 metres of fresh snowfall in the 7 days leading up to Niseko’s scheduled 2017/18 opening on November 23rd.

With over 50cm of snow forecast for Saturday and Sunday alone, temperatures are predicted to drop to below -5 degrees this weekend.

Despite the rapidly falling temperatures and heavy snowstorms ahead, keen mountain riders have already begun to scale Niseko Annupuri in search of early-season lines before lift operation officially begins.

Eager hikers take to the slopes to enjoy Niseko's already copious snow prior to next week's opening.
