Summer in Niseko

While most of Japan swelters in the summer sun, Hokkaido is often seen as a welcome break from the southern heat and humidity - boasting pleasant, temperate weather, crisp cool breezes, and a stunning array of natural terrain and flora to experience and explore.

Hokkaido is full of national parks, mountain ranges and opportunities for outdoor sports and activities, which can range from scenic road-trips, fishing, hiking and climbing, to golf, whitewater rafting, and of course — cycling.

Inspiring surroundings

The Niseko Classic offers two challenging courses set within a series of incredible backdrops, with inspiring views of one of Hokkaido’s most beloved and recognisable sights, the inactive volcano, Mount Yōtei.

Taking place in the height of July, riders will have the chance to ride through eclectic terrain; including the beautiful Panorama Line, picturesque Rankoshi and Kyōwa areas, and even the coast of the Sea of Japan.

Courses

(140km) Winding mountain roads combined with clean, crisp air, stunning alpine vistas, and over 2,300m of gruelling vertical climbs result in a race worthy of both Hokkaido’s captivating presence, and of growing international acclaim.

140Km

(70km) A shorter race is also being offered in the form of the Niseko Classic 70km course, with vertical climbs of 1,125m. The shorter course will have riders competing in an extended sprint to the Sea of Japan, before a challenging climb back to Annupuri and the Hirafu Resort.
