Winter Has Arrived - Heavy Snowfall Forecast for Niseko's Opening Week!
With over 110cm of snowfall predicted for the next 7 days, Niseko may be about to receive one of its greatest season beginnings of the decade.
Snow blanketed the slopes last weekend as work continued on the newly extended Family run. Last weekend marked the start of something special as the town received 20cm of snow on Saturday night. Snowfall continued throughout the week, with over 10cm of snow falling in the last 24hrs at the Hirafu village level.

After all of the incredible colours of the fall season, the last 7 days has marked a sudden transformation from autumn to winter, but it looks like the wait will have been worthwhile.
Even the year-round NAC Aerial Adventure Park is covered in snow!
According to Mountainwatch snow forecast, Niseko will be receiving over 110cm of fluffy white snow during the next week — meaning there will be almost 2 metres of fresh snowfall in the 7 days leading up to Niseko’s scheduled 2017/18 opening on November 23rd.
With over 50cm of snow forecast for Saturday and Sunday alone, temperatures are predicted to drop to below -5 degrees this weekend.
Despite the rapidly falling temperatures and heavy snowstorms ahead, keen mountain riders have already begun to scale Niseko Annupuri in search of early-season lines before lift operation officially begins.
Eager hikers take to the slopes to enjoy Niseko's already copious snow prior to next week's opening.
2017/18 has potential to be one of the most exciting winters in recent years — where will you be when the snow arrives?
